What Are the Characteristics of Modal-Cotton Yarn? What Is Polyester-Viscose Yarn? What Are the Uses of Pima Cotton Yarn?

The dry strength of Modal yarn is close to that of polyester (35 cN/tex), while its wet strength is slightly lower than that of cotton. It is soft and smooth with a silky feel. Its elongation in the wet state is relatively low, while its dry elongation lies between that of cotton and viscose. Its wet elongation is similar to that of cotton but lower than that of viscose. It has a relatively low shrinkage rate and excellent moisture absorption, about 50% higher than cotton, with a fast moisture absorption rate. Modal fiber also has excellent dyeing properties. It absorbs dyes faster than both combed cotton and carded cotton, with a high dye uptake, resulting in bright colors after dyeing. It also has good breathability.

Polyester-viscose blended yarn is a highly complementary blend available in cotton-type, wool-type, and medium-length fiber varieties. Wool-type fabrics are commonly known as “Kuai Ba.” When the polyester content is no less than 50%, the blended fabric retains the advantages of polyester, including high strength, dimensional stability, and good wash-and-wear performance. The addition of viscose fiber improves the breathability of the fabric, enhances its resistance to melting holes, and reduces pilling and static electricity.
